The year has not finished: the best is still yet to come

The year isn’t over yet, and by that, I mean there’s still time for exciting and good things to happen, so continue to be expectant. There’s still time for the things you’re hoping for, the things you want to see unfold. Just because we’re approaching the end of the year, don’t write off the possibility that a positive change could still happen in your life.

When September arrived, I expected things to fall into place because it marked the final quarter of the year, and with autumn here, I was yearning for rest after what had been a crazy, though good, year. But that didn’t happen. Many of the things I had hoped would happen by now still haven’t, and I found myself in a difficult mental space. For quite some time, I struggled with anxiety, worry, and fear about my future, despite the immense hard work and dedication I’d put into everything.

I told myself that if I gave one year to really try, to fully dedicate myself and work hard, I’d see how wonderful my life could be, especially after feeling so hopeless before. But I gave up on the year too early. The year isn’t over yet, and I need to keep the faith and trust that God will make everything perfect in His time, and that I haven’t laboured in vain.

The Bible speaks about those who reap the fruits of their labour from the good foundation they have attached themselves to. In John 15:5 (ESV), it says, "I am the vine; you are the branches. Whoever abides in me and I in him, he it is that bears much fruit, for apart from me you can do nothing."

When things don’t seem to be going as expected, or when everything feels off, I remind myself that not everything is as it seems. Perception is key. It’s important to see your life holistically and understand that this season, this moment, isn’t your forever, it isn’t your identity, it’s not your entire life. It’s just a part of your journey, and there will come a time when you’ll fully live in the blessings and miracles that God has planned for you.

Keep going, keep trying, keep showing up every day. Consistency doesn’t mean giving 100% every single day, it means showing up, even if it’s at 10%, 50%, or 100%.

I’d like to leave you with this Bible verse from Ecclesiastes 11: 5- 6 (ICB)

You don’t know where the wind will blow.

And you don’t know how a baby grows in its mother’s body.

In the same way, God certainly made all things.

But you can’t understand what he is doing.

Begin planting early in the morning,

and don’t stop working until evening.

This is because you don’t know which things you do will succeed.

It is even possible that everything you do will succeed.
