Friends are the family we choose

Friends are the family we choose.

This phrase has recently struck a deep chord with me because it highlights the significance of carefully selecting the people you surround yourselves with. While blood familial relationships are predetermined, friendships are a matter of choice. I've learnt how important it is to carefully select these people, since they are the ones with whom you will share parts of your life, choose to trust, and will have a place in your heart.

Over time, we may find that our circle of friends shrinks but their quality increases. As you mature and gain wisdom, it will become more clearer, who is actually for you, who aligns with your values, and who you want to journey with, whether for a season or a lifetime.

Good friends offer comfort in times of need, share joy in times of laughter, and show everlasting love and respect. Healthy friendships are based on mutual understanding and respect for boundaries. True friends may not always be physically there, but their support is unwavering, as proven by their commitment to being available when needed to the best of their ability.
